Usually your local council will have an economic or business development department which can provide advice and assistance on:
- Contact with business organizations
- Business seminars
- Business grants provided by goverment
- Local business statistics
You should enquire if your council has developed an economic (business) strategy for your area. Such a strategy may assist you in developing your own business or marketing plan.
Most Councils have set up business networking groups aimed at stimulating business in their city. An example of one of these is the Whitehorse Business Group.
